Patrick Balhorn joined MFG as a patent engineer in April 2021. He works in particular in the fields automotive, semiconductor technology, optics, network and cellular technology and user interfaces.

Patrick Balhorn studied Physics at RWTH Aachen University, where he obtained his Master of Science. During his academic training he specialized in the fields of condensed matter physics and laser technology.

In his master’s thesis he researched a process for spectroscopic material analysis of the inside of electronic components via laser induced plasmas to improve sorting and recycling of such components.

During and after his studies at university he gained practical experience working as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT). There he worked in the fields of thin film processing and laser measurement technology.
